Default Skill Pack, New Approach to Content Update

I think releasing more skills in packs with minimal fee (let's say $30 for 50 new skills for all classes, or $4.99 for a class specific skill set of 6-7 skills.) for people to purchase in store would be a great idea to add content. It adds unlimited possibilities(new skills to balance old skills), low technical maintenance (Anet already have the infrastructure and delivery system), great profitability(a skill takes how long to add?), and you don't have to print paper cards(unlike magic the gathering).

One warning: Do not over-buff the skills prior to skill pack sales and nerf it later, GW community would be pissed.

Horrible idea.

Izzy can't even balance the skills we already got right, what the hell are you smoking?

I am sure you wouldn't know "the black lotus".

Bad skills are in every game, we can struggle between rock, paper and scissor, or we can extend the skill database to dilute the conflicts.

The Black Lotus is one of the Power Nine, don't be dumb.

This is not Magic: The Gathering, because skills dont expire in a tournament format to be able to let the new cards be balanced. Sorry!

I second the bad idea vote. There's basically a skill for every situation atm, and the only room there is for expansion is adding more powerful versions of current skills (read:nightfall). Heck, there's already hundreds of skills that aren't used and would be like new (free!) skills if they were balanced properly.

Skills don't, but tournament can be established with card limitations and randomized stack/ aka sealed deck.

Well of silence is powerful enough to shut down one entire class and half, but how often is it incorporated in a team based build?

But they won't be. Anet wont do that.

Hey congrats, you just stated exactly why this is a bad idea in your own post. There are skills now that suck that need to be boosted before we get more.

It was used often when Heroes ascent was packed out with Paragons. I would rather that they focused on things like buffing current skills to encourage new team builds. Really what new skills could you add anyway? EotN had to come up with a new condition and it probably added the last sensible skills.

Bad idea. Get over it. Blindly defending the idea won't get you any more support.

Change the Factions duplicate skills, buff some of the crappy skills, perhaps even a few functional changes a la Otyugh's Cry are in order (I'm looking at you, Pendulum). Anet has lots of better options than simply adding more skills.

I'd like to see a good thorough reveiw and balance of existing skills first. After that we can talk about paying for skill packs.

Replacing Vampiric Bite with a different skill would be nice.

Hate those stupid touch rangers.

I guess majority of the community would like Anet to put some extra effort in the current skill system.

yeah because if they can't even balance the existing skills how do you expect them to balance more? why do you think they didnt add many skills in EotN? and then asked everyone in their dogs nation on Wiki on how to balance them?

maybe next year once GW2 comes out. But not any time soon, it would just go to serve for imbalence again. and thats exactly what they were trying to get away from with the dropping of Campaign 4 utopia. Otherwise we would have had the Corsair and Trident wilder classes by now with a 100 or so skills for each. Since this did not happen I would only imagine its for the best NOT to add too many global new skills at this time. Maybe next year or so a set of PvE skills being injected would be nice, but there just is not a need for more skills in teh PvP part of the game. Adds to too much imbalanced potential.

Simply changing it, and Vampiric Touch, to spells, would solve it by hurting the Touch Rangers' energy pool when they use it... and real Necromancers would be completely unaffected. It wouldn't nerf the skill at all; it would only nerf the usage in combination with Expertise.

Power Creep is a problem with doing this.

If you don't stop the power creep then people would pretty much have to buy the skill packs for PvP, while at the same time making PvE easier.

But if you do stop the power creep, what is there to encourage people to buy the new skill packs ?

Power creep the old stuff up first, then worry about adding new skills.

Or have a skill rebalance that puts all the campaigns on par and add the new skills on the same day as a skill pack.
